....

Pictures can jump start emotions which jump start writing...

No questions for this one...just write.

Music and Painting...and WORDS!

:)

Pick one painting...one lyric...the whole song...several paintings...

Write!

How do you feel? What does Van Gogh portray? How does the song add to the paintings feelings? Can you pick one painting and free write a story around it?

Let it Be...

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
Read these Lyrics...Listen to the song without watching the video...watch the video

FREE WRITE!!! Anything.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, ....

Is This Poetry?

Are lyrics poetry? Yes! Pick one of the songs from this Top 10 List and write in your journal. What is the song about? Does it have multiple meanings? Where do you think the inspiration came from? Can you write some lyrics? Or if you were to write a song, what personal inspiration from your life would you use to touch people?

Compare to Hughes...

How does this poem relate to Hughes? Where did she get inspiration from? What is the common theme?

Listen to Langston...Read It...

~First read the poem yourself. Make a list of thoughts, emotions, questions, etc... that you have after the first reading.
~Listen to Hughes introduction. What did he tell you that you didn't already know? What ideas about the poem were explained further?
~Now use Hughes as a Template. Write your own poem... "I've Known......" - This is your poem...what have you come to know? "I've known Heartache" to "I've Known football tackles..."

To Get Started...

This is the first step, the courage to write. Take a moment and think about all the different ways in which you write: essays, short answer, tests... of course. But what about texts, notes, e-mail, to-do lists, journals, comic books, etc... Each and every one of you is a writer! This is just a blog of some of my writing, others writings, video clips, music, pictures and more to give us more inspiration to write than we already have. This is the first step, having the courage to write!

Exoerience it through written word and moving picture....
